Lucent in the East River

Tuesday, September 14th 2021

The 1907 Tin Building within the Fulton Fish Market NYC was deconstructed in 2018 after laying dormant since its closure in 2005 when the market was moved to Hunts Point in the Bronx. Once an integral, bustling part of the East River waterfront, the building was deconstructed and salvageable elements were catalogued and included as part of the Howard Hughes Corporation.

Nearly 16 years on, after a reconstruction of Pier 17, a 53,000 square foot building has been designed by SHoP Architects and is finishing construction. 32 feet away from the original footprint of the Tin Building. A completely new structure, incorporating as many of the original elements and built higher to protect against water damage.

The building will once again house a food market, although this time not exclusively fish. The well know multi-cultural Eataly food market will be taking on this historic building. There will be six bars inside and a plethora of eateries.

Lucent are very proud to have been selected, by Lighting Designers L'Observatoire NYC, as one of the lighting manufacturer involved in this project.

We have supplied our Edge 4.25" Accent and Plus 3.5" Conical Accent downlights with a range of Lucent LED51 and LED50 Warm Dim modules.
